Call for Abstracts for Poster Presentation

The Organizing Committee invites submissions of abstracts for Poster Presentation at the 1st BRAP Annual Convention that will be held on June 6 and 7, 2017 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ortigas Ave Ext, Mandaluyong City. The convention theme is “Roadmapping the Future of Biorisk Management in the Philippines.”

The following topics are the focus of the convention, however, topics that relate to the objectives of the convention may be considered.

  • Laboratory Biosafety / Biosecurity Compliance
  • Biological Risk Management
  • Laboratory Best Practices: Applications of Biosafety and/or Biosecurity
  • Established Institutional Biosafety Committee
  • Training Programs for Biosafety and Biosecurity
  • Personnel Reliability Programs
  • Biorisk Management affecting human and animal infectious diseases
  • Human and/or Animal Containment facility design, commissioning, maintenance and operation
  • Innovations involving Human and/or Animal Biosafety and/or Biosecurity
  • Local and International Regulatory initiatives

Guidelines for poster presentation

  1. All abstracts will be reviewed by a scientific committee.
  2. Each registrant may submit only one abstract of his/her presentation during the conference.
  3. Selected abstracts will only be accepted upon presentation of proof of registration and payment.
  4. The poster shall be not more than 3×5 feet (36×60 inches).
  5. The title shall be on the top of the poster with the logos of the institution on the left and/or right side of the title.

Abstract specification

  1. All abstracts submitted must be in English.
  2. The combined length of the abstract title, name/s of the author/s, and body should not be more than 300 words.
  3. The title should be bold, center justified and at the top of the abstract.
  4. Author/s list should be immediately under the tile and types as <surname,> with the presenting or main author’s name underlined.
  5. The institution list follows the author’s list. A symbol in superscript (* # or +) should be used to indicate which institution the author belongs too.
  6. Leave one line between the title and the author/s and their institution and another line between the author/institutions and the body of the abstract.
  7. Text must be typed single-spaced, Times Roman Font, 12 points, with only the left margin justified.
  8. Graphs, Figures and Illustrations are not allowed in the abstract.
  9. Margins of the page should be one inch in all sides of the page.
  10. Please proofread your abstract. BRAP will not be held responsible for misspelled words. It is also the responsibility of the authors to make sure that if they use special characters or symbols, these should be seen as they expect it to turn out to be.
  11. The file to be submitted should ONLY be in MS Office Word (doc or docx) format. No other file format will be accepted.
  12. For indexing purposes, please identify and include three (3) key words representing your abstract and shall be placed on the lower left after the body of the abstract.
