The Biorisk Association of the Philippines 2015, Inc. (BRAP) joins ABSA International and the global biosafety community in celebrating October 2026 Biosafety and Biosecurity Month, with the theme “Enhancing Biosafety and Biosecurity through Technology.”

BRAP’s commemorative flyer, “Laboratory Safety Then and Now,” pays tribute to the pioneers of biosafety and biosecurity who have championed safer laboratories in the Philippines since the association’s founding in 2015. Through contrasting images of past and present laboratory practices, the flyer illustrates the transition from mouth pipetting and limited protective measures to mechanical pipettes, appropriate protective equipment, biosafety cabinets, and established safety protocols. It also highlights how lessons from laboratory incidents and exposures have informed today’s safeguards. This tribute honors generations of advocates while reaffirming BRAP’s continuing commitment to protecting laboratory professionals, patients, and communities through biosafety education, responsible practice, and shared accountability.
